How to get to heaven from wherever you are....

The most important issue I face in life is death.  What is going to happen to me the moment I die?    Philosophy and science do not answer this question..   Cultural traditions passed down from generation to generation  have no historical value.   None of our forefathers were  able to give any information beyond what we can do today. Unfortunately, many cultural traditions only obscure the issue.

Religion, however, offers some answers to problems in life.  Most religions require you to do good deeds to find God.    Some religions,  Hinduism, and Buddhism,  speak of  re-incarnation after death, but this could mean coming back as a worm or anything up to a god.  Your good or bad deeds determine how you come back.  Religion is generally a way of works in an effort to make progress in the next life.    Other religions teach that one can gain God's favor  by  good deeds also, only in one lifetime, not many.  They tell you how to live, or the way to go, but do not take you there.  It is up to you.

Christian faith begins with what God has done for us.   This marvelous story begins with the  beginning of the world.   God, whose name is Yahweh, created the world, created mankind to have a relationship with Him.  The sad part of the story of the Bible is that humans rebelled against Him and  made themselves the center of the universe rather than God.   But God did not give up.  He sent  messengers (called prophets in the Bible)  to call people back to himself, and through them  foretold that he would  come to them in the person of  the Messiah, ( a Hebrew term meaning  "anointed one." )  This person  was Jesus, the Messiah,  or Jesus, the Christ (Greek term).

Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father but by me."  Note that he did not say, I show you the way,  but I am the Way.  Before these words  Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many rooms;  if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?  And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." (John 14:6)   Jesus claimed to be the only way and proved his authority to make that claim by his life, death, and resurrection.

Therefore,   if you want to get to heaven, you have to link your life with Jesus.  How do you do this?  This gospel of John  contains one of the most famous verses, 3:16.  "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life."    Believing in Jesus means  to commit your life to Him, entrusting yourself to Him and continuing in a relationship with Him.  You  commit yourself  to him  in prayer,   saying aloud to God, who hears all we say,
"Lord and Creator of the Universe,  like all people I have done  deeds  that are wrong and rebellious against You.   I confess these wrongs to you and  ask your forgiveness. I  ask  that  Jesus Christ be Lord of my life.   I  claim the promise of your Gospel that "as many as receive Him, to them he gave the right to become children of God." I commit myself to you in the name of Jesus, the Christ. Amen."

If you have made this commitment to Jesus Christ,  we would like to know  of your decision.   Please forward a  note to   The Healing Site      To know Jesus more, you should read the New Testament   on a regular basis so you can become familiar with the words and actions of Jesus.
